19. The reporter is an idiot. I have employees who commute from Wasilla to our shop in Anchorage. It takes 45-75 minutes depending on how far in the boonies they live. 3 hours to get to a grocery store?

20. Since everyone has to quarintine 14 days coming to Alaska, I would say a state that 1 our of 9 jobs are toursim related is NOT open. Those of us who constantly notify guest of quarintine and loose business don't say it's open. And we are not animals to be "caught" and realed back in.

22. I'm from Alaska. I work in this town, and live about 10 miles away down KGB road. As others have pointed out, she was LITERALLY STANDING IN FRONT OF AN OPEN GROCERY STORE as she said this – one of four major chain-brand grocery stores in Wasilla, two of which also have locations in Palmer a few minutes away, not to mention the local chain with four different locations within comfortable driving distance of the Wasilla-Palmer area. I work as a cashier at one of these 10 stores, and would be willing to bet that at the exact moment this was being filmed, I was at my register, ringing tens of thousands of dollars of merchandise every hour while 7-8 other cashiers did the same thing on other lanes. Certain things are still difficult to get, but it's the same things that are hard everywhere else – rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, and now the BS meat shortage (local meat stores that work directly with ranchers and hunters may be a workaround though I haven't investigated personally).

    To be sure, there are Alaskans who drive 3 hours to get groceries. They're the same ones who've always driven 3 hours to get groceries. Because they live in places where the closest grocery store is 3 hours away.

    This is why no one trusts you anymore. Get your facts straight and stop using my state to fearmonger.

23. Literally the only reason to drive more than 15-20 minutes is to go to Costco. In Wasilla alonr there is a Safeway (Carr's), Fred Meyer, target and the busiest Walmart in the state along with a Walgreens and several smaller locally owned grocery stores. If you're driving 3 hours to Fairbanks for groceries you're doing something wrong!
