25. I am absolutely NOT a trump supporter. I think he’s a horrible, reckless, embarrassing leader…..HOWEVER, I am also a retired nurse with nothing better to do than research this pandemic and the virus causing it. Two treatments have been used around the world that now have science on their sides. One is the prophylactic and EARLY treatment use of hydroxychloroquine WITH concomitant zinc. This has been SHOWN to have an effect reducing the severity of the illness (if used EARLY and WITH zinc,) and potentially will be shown to have created a prophylactic (preventative) response once all the data is in. Countries like Senegal (in Africa) are using this for both with much success. Studies have shown no clinically significant use of hydroxychloroquine once a person has been thoroughly infected with the virus causing Covid-19. If I could get ahold of hydroxychloroquine, I would use it if I was immediately at risk for getting Covid-19, but not yet sick.
    Like Chloroquine and Mefloquine, antiparasitics for malaria, you have to use these antiviral drugs BEFORE you get the illness. Once you get full-on malaria, those drugs are useless. So, Trump is actually on to something, and my political inclinations can’t take that from him…I’m afraid. It may be one of the ONLY things I agree with him on at this time.

    Additionally, there are some doctors that are using nebulized hydrogen peroxide in an inhaler as an “anti-infective” treatment of the disease with success. This would technically be a “disinfectant” as Trump suggested we use…..as much as it PAINS me to say it.

    Lastly, the use of light (i.e. infrared technology) can and has been used to treat patients for all kinds of problems, so technically his suggestion wasn’t completely ridiculous. Trump may have been “briefed” on these treatment modalities, and in his simplistic, (moronic) way of addressing the public, made it sound like we should do crazy, reckless things. But…..there is science distantly related to his poorly informed, poorly stated ideas.

    I HATE to think that just because HE is taking hydroxychloroquine, or because of the other reckless suggestions that came spewing from his mouth, that people will ignore the science that supports the use of these treatments. I don’t know why this Harvard Doctor is so against the clinically monitored use of hydroxychloroquine, but, perhaps Harvard Medical system has some financial stake in Remdesivir or other up-coming antiviral med that will cost gazzilions to the public, where hydroxychloroquine, zinc, and hydrogen peroxide are cheap and few will make significant money on their use….I always “follow the money” when looking into the WHYS….
