5. Shutdown destroys the economy. Social distancing splits the normal run into two so that when the second half arrives people will demand takeover by the International Socialists.

We're being given a false choice in either the public distancing or stay home when there should be clear workplace safety regulations that specify the proper PPE for each public and workplace setting. It's also abundantly clear that we need masks designed for pandemics and not just for dusty workplaces. Every mask should have a filtered exhaust valve because most infected people are asymptomatic and shedding virus so their exhausted breath must be filtered. Masks without valves do limit transmission but make the patient more severely ill due to their re-inhalation the expelled virus. These improved disposable masks could be sold in a $7.50 PPE kit with safety glasses and disinfectant infused gloves so we can safely use public transportation and survive other short-term crowded situations. While we’re waiting for manufacturers to rise to the task, you could add a surgical mask on top of your N95 valve to limit virus transmission.
