To CEO's of companies like Johnson & Johnson, who knowingly and willingly kept selling women's hygiene products with talcum powder in it, even though internal company memos prove that they knew for years on end that it caused cancer. Yes they got sued and lost and were ordered to pay something like a billion dollars (may be it was n't that much) in damages, but a billion compared to how much the company made from the sales those products for years is a drop in a barrel full of water. And here's the kicker, most of the time those CEO's retire or resign with huge payoffs. So not only do they get away with it, but they get rewarded. When was the last time you saw a CEO get prosecuted and jailed? I can not even remember, perhaps never. And of course, Trump just did too. So yes you can retire to avoid responsibility. Sadly, it is a fundamental part of a capitalist establishment.

16. Now, according to Mitch McConnell, the appropriate place for legal action against Trump is in civil and criminal litigation. Everyone that was directly impacted/harmed by what happened on January 6th has a strong case; let the lawsuits and criminal prosecutions begin. Trump started his legal defense fund many months ago; it is time to start draining that swamp in earnest. How about class action suits from Congressional Staffers? Capitol Hill Police? All of the local election officials/workers who were slandered and libeled by him? Likewise, state election officials? All of the individual Electors of the different States? The City of Washington, DC? Individual members of Congress who had to flee for their lives? States that had to send National Guard to provide additional security? Trump has some deep pockets; there should be no shortage of lawyers willing to seek justice here

It is not as though Nancy Pelosi did not know how to take the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate. Last year they staged a little televised procession of the Speaker of the House and House Managers delivering the Articles of Impeachment in person. Nancy Pelosi claims that she was prevented this time by Mitch McConnell. That is a lie. The person the Articles of Impeachment have to reach is the Vice-President, the individual the Constitution designates as President of the Senate. The Vice-President then informs the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court that an impeachment has taken place. By waiting until Donald Trump was no longer in office, Democrats insured that John Roberts was going to refuse to preside over an impeachment trial of someone no longer in office, which is what he should have done. So Democrats proceeded forward with a sham trial which a majority of Republicans said was unconstitutional, presided over by Leahy, to make Republican Senators, not Donald Trump, the object of their ire. The Democrats got what they wanted out of this, an excuse to denigrate Republican Senators.
