450hp LS1 1978 Datsun 280Z

One of the coolest imports I’ve had the opportunity to see in action, this extremely streetable 1978 Datsun 280z takes it’s first trip to the drag strip to do some testing. The car has an LS1 with heads, cam, and FAST intake manifold putting down around 450 wheel horsepower! Best 1/8 mile time was 7.11 for the night.

  1. This is the car that you see in the lane next to you, supercharger whining, fuel pump louder than the car you have, and you think to yourself…I'm making payments on a hellcat and I'm pretty sure this car has more nuts than me.

  2. I built a 1972 240z,lLs6,twin turbo and super charge . Couldn't see what it would do wide-open thing would get almost Airborne at 130 6 Speed automatic very very fast dangerously fast

  3. how much is this build cost? I have a 1972 and 1973 240z sitting in the garage for 30years. after watching this video I feel like doing a project.

  4. S30 chassis cars are some of the best-looking ever made. One thing you can say for ALL generations of Z-car is that they have REALLY stout drivetrains. There are 350z's running 8's with the stock 6-speed and rear diff.

  5. that cant be a stock r200 even if it had the vlsd its probably got an aftermarket helical and i doubt hes running the stock 3.545 gears he probably swapped them out with 3.90s or 4.11s
