This video proves why cities need to get with the program and provide real drag strips. I know of more than a few car clubs around here who would gladly sign the damage and injury waivers if they had an inexpensive place to go run their cars. A bunch of us with motorcycles would run them too. Make the track long and safe (with plenty of run-off after the quarter mile, unlike the road in this video). Provide an actual light tree and the timing signs like a regular track. Something like this, if you could get around the liability issues and insurance cost, would be a fantastic hangout. Kids (and adults) could race their cars without the threat of police, and the track would be a proper track.
