They can't wait to privatize it (they've wanted to for years and have made prior attempts at doing it and anyone with a brain knows it).   41. Donald Trump doesn't have a better understanding of the situation because he ONLY cares about how it affects him! Trump was worried about how it would affect him financially and politically and he has tried to blame others despite the fact that he is the president and he had a responsibility to the nation which he failed. PBS Newshour did a very enlightening segment on the situation and I recommend every American to watch it.

    Donald Trump failed leading up to the crisis, failed during the crisis and he is failing to lead now that the crisis has enveloped America! Donald Trump is continuing to fail because he refuses to accept responsibility and because he is continuing to lie to the American people. A leader tells the truth no matter how difficult that is and a leader always places the interests of the people he is responsible for leading and Donald Trump has done none of that!

    There is a huge difference between finger-pointing and accountability. We, the citizens of America have the right to know the truth and the facts, and we have the responsibility to hold our government accountable. We can not accept our government lying to us, especially the president! Donald Trump has lied to America about the seriousness of the Coronavirus since back in January when he already knew that this virus was so serious that China was quarantining entire cities and that is NOT acceptable! As of right now, Donald Trump is telling America how well his administration has handled the Coronavirus crisis and all I see is incompetence and cover-up!

    The worst thing our government can do is to tell people that there is nothing to worry about or that the government has this disease under control when it doesn't. Sadly, that is exactly what Donald Trump has been doing and that has created confusion and has caused many Americans to not believe the danger associated with this disease which has lead to a further spread of the disease.
    Holding Donald Trump, the Trump administration and the Republican party responsible is not politicizing the Coronavirus, it is accountability! The difference between politicizing and accountability is simple. With accountability, you hold someone responsible for their actions, inactions, and behavior based on facts that demonstrate their incompetence as I am doing. In politicizing you make up lies, disseminate misinformation and spread propaganda which is not fact-based but is based on the need to confuse people and create a false reality much like a conspiracy theorist would do and that is what you, Donald Trump and members of the Republican party have been politicizing the crisis with their lies, propaganda, and cover-up!.

    The outbreak of Covid-19 is exposing the weakness of the American health system and it is also exposing the incompetence within our government. Just a few days ago Donald Trump stated that this surprised him and that no one could have foreseen that such a crisis could happen.

    in January 2017, Dr. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said there is “no doubt” Donald J. Trump will be confronted with a surprise infectious disease outbreak during his presidency. While speaking at a forum on pandemic preparedness at Georgetown University, Dr. Fauci said the Trump administration will not only be challenged by ongoing global health threats such as influenza and HIV, but also a surprise disease outbreak. Dr. Fauci also stated that preventing disease pandemics often starts overseas and that a proper response means collaboration between not only the U.S. and other countries but also the public and private health sectors. Dr. Fauci said, “We will definitely get surprised in the next few years."

    In April 2018 Bill Gates warned that a new disease could kill 30 million people within 6 months and he said that we should prepare for it as we do for war. And he said that the disease that next takes us by surprise is likely to be one we see for the first time at the start of an outbreak, like what happened recently with SARS and MERS viruses.

    In January 2019, Dan Coates, Director of National Intelligence released the Worldwide Threat Assessment report to Donald Trump which stated, "We assess that the United States and the world will remain vulnerable to the next flu pandemic or large scale outbreak of a contagious disease that could lead to massive rates of death and disability, severely affect the world economy, strain international resources, and increase calls on the United States for support. Donald Trump fired Dan Coates!

    Time magazine reported in a March 2020 article that the Trump Administration Is currently stalling an Intel Report that warns the U.S. isn’t ready for a global pandemic. The annual intelligence report that has been postponed without explanation by President Donald Trump’s administration warns that the U.S. remains unprepared for a global pandemic, two senior government officials who have reviewed a draft of the report tell TIME. The office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) was scheduled to deliver the Worldwide Threat Assessment to the House Intelligence Committee yesterday, Feb. 12. But the hearing was canceled by the Trump administration and the hearing has not been rescheduled, according to staffers and members of the House and Senate intelligence committees. The DNI’s office declined requests for a comment on the status of the report. Democratic staffers say they do not expect the report to be released any time soon. The final draft of the report remains classified but the two officials who have read it say it contains warnings similar to those in the last installment, which was published Dan Coates on January 29, 2019. Donald Trump already has a copy of the report and he does not want Americans to learn about the report because then all Americans would know just how incompetent and irresponsible he has been with their lives and with their financial future!

    When Donald Trump says that the Covid-19 was unforeseen he is blatantly lying to the American people! Donald Trump was provided with an Intel Assessment in 2019 and 2020 which outlined the danger that a pandemic would do to the American economy and the danger to the huge number of American lives that would be lost but Donald Trump didn't care. Donald Trump still shut down the United States' Global Pandemic Response Team, fired people who protected American interests, tried to blame his failure on Democrats and on President Obama and then lied to cover up his incompetence and lack of empathy for America and the American people! Donald Trump only cares about himself, which includes his personal financial and political risk!

    When Trump first started talking about lowering the payroll taxes all Trump could say was how he would meet with the Republicans to come up with a plan. There was zero consideration to include the Democrats who control the House or zero consideration to create a bipartisan plan that would quickly and easily get through Congress. The president of the United States refused to meet with the Speaker of the House to create a bipartisan plan to save America from this pandemic crisis because she hurt his feelings and he was pouting like a four-year-old! Trump has taken every opportunity to POLITICIZE the Coronavirus crisis and has failed to demonstrate true leadership!

    Any caring, compassionate, and competent Republican president would definitely have wanted to include the Democrats in the planning stages of a new emergency bill, but for Trump, it doesn't matter. If the Republicans come up with a bill that passes through Congress that would be good for Trump. If the Republicans come up with a bill that gets stalled in the House because it isn’t a good bill that is also good for Trump because he can then blame everyone's financial misery on the Democrats. Trump doesn't care about coming up with a plan that is best for the American people, he only cares about using the Coronavirus crisis to improve his POLITICAL standing! With Donald Trump it is politics and money first, people last!

    There is more that I could point out but I believe I have made my point. It is Donald Trump and the Republican party who have politicized the Coronavirus crisis and have placed American's health, welfare and financial security at risk!
