If the hospital took his blood and it showed he was 5x the legal limit, why isnt the DA charging him? Seperate from that, why didnt the department fire him based on that same evidence?

This some bullshit. My dumb younger self got 1 dui and was sentenced to a year in jail and 3 years probation just because I had a public defender. If I had a lawyer he would've asked how much do you want to pay to make this go away. The justice system is ridiculous.
So…We fucked up and didn't charge the guy with a DUI, so instead of doing the right thing, we are going to let him keep his job, and only demote him.
