First let me say that he should absolutely be tried. He's a user of the highest order.
HOWEVER…..i have sympathy for his alleged victims, but perhaps not so much as I should. They were trying to break into the movie industry and were FULLY aware of the " CASTING COUCH ". It's been part of Hollywood since it's very beginning and has never changed. Actors almost always whore themselves out for the fame and fortune. Most of even the biggest names in the industry got to the top via the casting couch.
Back in the 20s, 30s and 40s, perhaps longer, the studios each kept scores of young ladies, " secretaries ", who were unofficially known as 5 o'clock girls. The top stars snd executives relieved their stresses with them daily. It's ALWAYS been part of the system. So these young ladies knew what to expect from a Hollywood mogul.
As the late brilliant director Billy Wilder pointed out ofter the release of SUNSET BOULEVARD……." it's about EXPLOITATION. Hollywood cant function without it." He was right. And it has never changed and never will.
