This is not Hong Kong. Those who call this kind of project "progress" do not have the cultural values that coincide with our American dream. Some call a move to the burbs "sprawl" when in fact that is exactly what creates a more self reliant, versatile and rich life style or experience. Enough room to have both indoor and outdoor projects, gardens and other healthy activities. These advantages along with more sustainable individual transportation coming available, projects such as light rail seem to me not only inappropriate, but obsolete. The number of commuters that would potentially use the system was vastly over-estimated. Please tell Sound Transit to back off and realize that they had an unrealistic dream and that what they have done is not what people voted for – that they have gone off the tracks. I would like to see Seattle and the Pacific Northwest as an example of what sustainable living should be, not another throng of robots in suits living in little boxes. Lets spend the money on coordinating traffic lights, car charging stations, battery research and making transportation more practical. In our area it seems the traffic managers stop as many cars as possible which increase pollution by a factor of 20.
