Why are they allowing visits to a active volcano, and why weren’t they keeping a eye on it to know when it was going to erupt? I think this all sounds very irresponsible of New Zealand.
It is amazing what humans can do. We can achieve great things but some times we could be so stupid and careless. Who in the name of god book a tour to go inside (YES, YOU ARE TECHNICALLY WALKING INSIDE THE CRATER OF AN ACTIVE VOLCANO) Why do we have the need to seek this kind of stupid thrills just to amuse ourselves. The result, a group of people killed just because there wan't any common sense by the tour operator and the authorities in NZ for allowed them to promote this stupid trip. I'm from a country with a lot of active volcanoes and UNDER NO CIRCUNSTANCE THE AUTHORITIES ALLOW TOURIST TO GO NEAR THE CRATER OF AN ACTIVE VOLCANO. There have been accidents of course but those are individuals that decided not to listen to the warnings and take the risk

The webcam photo was not minutes before the eruption, it was 1 minute before the eruption, I would say that of these people none made it, the unfortunate thing is the island has a refuge container where people can go in an eruption but it was not used, and that could be that there was no emergency procedure highlighted to the participants of the tour of the volcano.

Why are so many people blaming the tourists? They were on an excursion from the cruise line and had professional guides. It is reasonable for them to assume that they would not be taken into a life threatening situation.
