    I could do what you just did with a made up witness in the John Wilkes Booth assassination of President Lincoln:

    A witness says he saw Booth walk up, pull a gun, fire the gun in the direction of the President and then run out of the little perch area in Ford's theater where Lincoln was shot. Jim Jordan would say to the witness:

    Mr. Smith, did Mr. Booth ever tell you he was going to shoot the President? "NO."

    He never told you. "NO."

    Do you know Mr. Booth? "NO"

    You've never met him? "NO"

    Never spoken to him? "NO"

    So to your knowledge, you had no reason to believe Booth was going to do this. "WELL…NO."

    Now your testimony reads that you were 5 feet away from where the President was sitting, is that correct? "YES."

    But you had no direct view to the President, is that correct? "CORRECT, I WAS BEHIND HIM IN THE CORRIDOR AND THERE A CURTAIN BETWEEN US.

    Your testimony says you saw Booth walk up to the curtain and move it to the right towards where the President was seated. You said you saw him pull the gun out, but you lost sight of the gun as he brought it up on the other side of the curtain. Is that correct Mr. Smith? "YES"

    You heard the gun shot behind the curtain where Booth was standing and you said within a split second, Booth ran out of the President's seating area. Correct? "YES"

    As Booth existed, did he still have a gun in his hand? "YES"

    And was headed to the back exit. Is that correct? "YES"

    So you didn't actually see Booth shoot the President, correct? "YES, I DID"

    But you just said the gun Booth drew went up on the other side of the curtain?! Are you Superman Mr. Smith? Can you see through things Mr. Smith??? "I SAW HIM DRAW THE GUN, I HEARD THE SHOT AND SAW HIM RUN AWAY IMMEDIATELY.

    Let me make sure I got this: Booth never said to you he was going to do this..not once, not EVER. You had ZERO reason to believe he was going to do this. None whatsoever. And truth be told, you didn't actually see Booth pull the trigger. Yet you are convinced he did it?!! "I ALREADY TOLD YOU WHY"

    Mr. Smith, do you own a gun? "YES"

    And how many other ppl that were in the theater that day likely to own a gun? "I WOULD GUESS ALL OF THEM."

    And so out of all the ppl there that owned a gun, you automatically thought it was Booth that shot Lincoln? "THAT's BECAUSE…."

    (interrupts) Couldn't it have been someone else that owned a gun that fired that shot? "WELL…."
