Gawd I remember this so well. I grew up in Seaford, the village right next to Massapequa. When I was a kid we used to bicycle down to that beach right by their house. altho I think it was turned into a private beach at some point. Then when I grew . up I moved to Bellmore, right next to Merrick where Amy lived. My son went to JFK High too. Even when I was in Seaford High JFK was considered a wild school, with a LOT of rich kids driving brand new cars to school and always getting into trouble, mostly drug use. There was a lot money down there. The year my son graduated from JFK two kids he'd known since kindergarten were killed in a traffic accident that probably involved drugs or liquor and certainly a high rate of speed. They were driving along the Northern State Parkway at excessive speed, lost control, and went through the thick trees that are used as a highway divider for traffic in different directions.The poor kids were so mangled they had to be cut out of the cars. One was so bad he couldn't have an open coffin.There are a LOT of AMY-type stories out of JFK High.
