  1. There sure are a lot of foolish comments posted here as to "it's only a Black bear…" "…black bears are really nothing to worry about…" and such. Geez! People! If you are watching this then you are already on the Internet. Type "fatal black bear attack" into any search engine; read a few of those stories; then tell me, or better yet, try to explain to surviving family members that the black bears that killed their loved ones were not dangerous.

Wilderness inhabited by potentially lethal critters is infinitely more interesting than those regions where the apex predators have been eradicated. No need to go fearfully if one is informed and reasonably competent in their skills. That knowledge should encompass predators and their habits, and those skills should include the ability to deal with predator attacks every bit as much as how to prevent sunburn or hypothermia. Whether you personally decide to go armed with pepper spray or a firearm; or if you even accept the admittedly rare chance that you could become a victim–the choice is yours. But please! do not declare to the uninformed that Black bears are not dangerous.

  2. News Flash people bears live in almost parts of America, just like snakes. If you go outside you run the chance of coming across one whether you are near their trails or not. So telling her to not go running where bears are is utter stupidity.

  3. Now please tell the world WHY the Hades ANY person who KNOWS there are bears, would EVER go jogging??? When they eat your legs, you won't be jogging anymore to keep that figure….THINK!!!

  4. This is Whistler, isn't it? If you're in our small towns and back country, you have to start bringing bear spray with you. I live in the Canadian Rockies and most of us don't go anywhere without a spray bottle. There was another incident the other day near a small town called Powell River, BC, between a grizzly and a mountain biker. He survived, but didn't have bear spray on him. It may not always help, such as an attack that is a surprise, but reducing your risk with minimal imposition on you or the wildlife should make for an easy choice.

  5. We kill them, let them kill us.its the balance of nature.this earth will not survive long, when scientist wiĺ say that this is the end of the world, youll see many scared people starting to kill and destroy everything.

  6. I see this shit on the trail all of the time. I can gurantee you that SHE spotted the Bear at a distance, she approached it and tried to take a picture of this Bear. I hike the Appalachian Trail all of the time and Rangers have to constantly tell new hikers and campers (Do Not approach a Bear to take a picture). But these selfie-obsessed idiots do it anyway!

  9. She may have had fruity/flower scented things on her and the bear was curious. Bears have a keen sense of smell. Glad she’s okay.

  10. Bear 101 stop moving start yelling make yourself look big. He came to you cause you were moving away from it. Bears false charge that's why he charged you then turned around. You're lucky you didnt run cause black bears will chew on you even if you play dead. They are way more unpredictable then any other bears.
