22. This is so insanely common in the military. Not saying I think he's guilty, but sexual assault and rape are both very common in the military which is a shame.

23. Unless you know military culture, you should not be making any comments assuming this woman is just trying to destroy this man. I am a former veteran and I have seen what happens to women that come forward. The military is the only place in the world where a woman can get raped and get charged with adultery while the rapist gets off. Women face the danger of being blackballed if they come forward–especially if it is someone that is senior to them. A commander often does not want to prosecute a sexual assault case because it brings a negative light to the command and these commanders are competing for promotions. Furthermore, women often face other reprisals even though this is against the rules (spoiler alert: it still happens). That lady knew or probably feared her career would be over if she brought accusations and the command decided it did not want to investigate or took the general's side. For the uninformed on this blog, only 3% of all sexual assaults in the military result in any form of punishment for the perpetrator. All branches of service have a huge problem with sexual assault. They are trying to be more proactive because the military is scared to death that civilian authorities will step in and start taking over their investigations instead of leaving it up to commanders.

    to convincingly support her believable alleged sexual assault claims, this general will get the confirmation promotion position.
    The Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, made everyone tremendously aware of reminders on how much the majority Senate Republicans will overlook the obvious truth concerning alleged sexual assault to make predetemined backroom confirmation decision deals.

Not only will they now not believe you, but he has likely done these same things to other women…WHO ALSO NEVER CAME FORWARD! One female veteran that I know had her life threatened if she spoke up. I believe this because I have seen and heard this too many times. Mothers and fathers raise your children to keep their hands to themselves and “no” means “no”.

    When women report it they have about a 50/50 chance of getting heard and having a decent outcome (and pity the poor same-sex victim who also happens to be gay!). MOST of the time we are outnumbered in the command and have little recourse but to chalk it up as "boys will be boys," or, "Do you really want to ruin his career over something so insignificant?" And, YES, I know women can be guilty of harassment as well.
