   It was the British govt itself that gave Hong Kong over to China with a mere 50 year expiration date for freedom in Hong Kong.

19. I think most observers of Hong Kong, since the Brits turned it back over to China, anticipated this day would come sooner or later. Now, the citizens of that city must come to grips what level of resistance is necessary to maintain the democratic institutions which they have taken for granted would last in perpetuity. It will be equally challenging for the Communist Chinese to pick the level of response that will not incite another uprising for democracy in mainland China. Pray for the free citizens of Hong Kong, then for democracy in China.
