i must’ve had 35 rats together from both females and i just needed one male, but after he’s done his job you have to separate them, then the mothers they’ll legit take turns caring for their babies from both litters, i remember waking up and just hearing the lil squeaks from the babies, she let me pick them up anytime, but if anyone tried that she didn’t know she’ll bite them, my now ex girlfriend was fine cause they trusted her, i actually revived one of the baby’s that got stuck in the running wheel i preform CPR ever so slightly and I saved him, he survived thanks to me
i breed rats from time to time, i even have showers with them, they legit wash themselves, their better then hamsters

I had a pet rat myself. He was sweet. He cuddled, he played, he never was expressive or bite you when you handed it food. It take it gently off ya finger or hand and eat it like a human with 2 hands. That guy seemed genuinely out going and cool.
I hope he is on the path to becoming a veterinarian or working with animals in some other capacity
