I don't comprehend why people continue to hike in unknown, isolated areas. It's stupid and frankly, it's selfish. Thank goodness, he was found but placed searchers in harm's way to find him.

Take a satellite phone with you if you're going out hiking and never hike alone into areas that you've never been in. This is a costly search for human life which is very valuable and Priceless but it can simply be avoided
