Jon Stewart slams Congress over benefits for 9/11 first responders

“What an incredible metaphor this room is for the entire process that getting health care and benefits for 9/11 first responders has come to. Behind me, a filled room of 9/11 first responders, and in front of me, a nearly empty Congress.” More of his emotional testimony: https://abcn.ws/2ZftsoP

  1. It’s a wonderful speech. It truly is. I really appreciate it. Health care and benefits. Wonder if he will fight for all the Nurses, CNA’s, Med-Techs, and Doctors that have died from Covid-19???? Or are they not heroes?

  2. I find myself coming back to this every so often, it’ll never get old and never not given me chills. Everyone should see this. Everyone should feel the power in his voice.

  3. Greatest country on earth, you have the worst way of showing it. You can't give yourself that title and then discard the people that made that title possible. What the hell is wrong with you people. Jon Stewart should run for president and you guys slave to make that possible. FACT !!!.

  4. the roman empire took good care of their own. for all our advancements there are still some things we just cant get right. the roman empire would have paid all their medical bills and gave them rent and tax free homes, because thats what the roman empire did just for its soldiers alone. i was a first responder during 9/11, and im one of tje lucky few that didnt get sick from it, but these people deserve this aid. we send billions out all around the world every year to help others and youre tellin me we cant send even 1billion to fund this? unreal

  5. God bless you sir. Very difficult speech do you gave him percentage and you did with such prestige in honor and politeness. I hope that someday my children will watch this and share this with their friends at their young age or when they’re older to understand what happened.

  6. I'm not a conspiracy theorist so don't start…but why are all the people behind him not in tears thinking about that day and their fallen brothers and sisters and why do they keep looking at the camera like there is a sign on top telling them what to do? Maybe it's just me, but thank you to those that served and those that were left behind #YouAreNotForgotten

  7. Politicians never have enough money for a humanitarian health issue within their own country but when it comes to a pay rise or a corporate prop up, the money is limitless!!!?

  8. Jon Stewart was told all his life that socialism does not work. And now here he is, in front of what is essentially a death panel, begging bureaucrats to give people health care. You have no one to be upset at but yourself Jon Stewart. Why not just simply bypass congress, and create your own private organization to help 9/11 survivors? Surely a man of Stewarts fame can raise the money for it?

  9. I can't stand weepy voices on TV. They feel contrived and scripted. Everybody these days is weepy and overly emotional. Grammys, reality shows, infomercials, presidential campaigns.

Stop giving weepy speeches and realize that politicians are not running for office to solve your problems, but to advance their power.

No one ever made it to US congress because they were weepy sniveling delicate flowers. So Stop with your drama class trained on queue crying techniques.

  10. That there is a unique individual. Amazing statement.

All the committee members looking at each other before they start clapping, what a shower of slugs.
