A 15-year-old special education student at Española Valley High School was tased by Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremy Barnes on May 10, for allegedly failing to comply with a search.

He refused a search, he refused to comply, he insulted the cop, he resisted arrest, he got tased. The cop was doing his job. The boy was surrounded by school staff members who could be injured by him resisting arrest. The cop is NOT bound by the 504 plan that includes the policy for de-escalation. The parents are suing the school district, the same school district they want to keep their child safe. Well guess what? They can’t do that with $500,000 less dollars. We can’t scream for equality but think those who aren’t equal should be treated differently. Good fucking luck getting anything done that way.
