7. So far in coastal NC we've had approximately 22 drowning in just May. The father & his 3 kids drowned. The kids survived.

8. That was unsafe for the life guard to allow to demo without swim aid, mask, fins, snorkel, life buoys. You must not do that. I'm a long distance swimmer and a rescue padi scuba divemaster that trained both dive master and instructor with technical diving. I almost drowned in an olympic swimming pool. I hit the floor with my nose the bled a little. Then one time i ran out of air at 47m long on one breath to 50m. That ain't safe at all.

If you get caught in a rip just save energy and ride with it they usually bring you back or if it doesnt wait till it spits you out and then swim laterally a good distance before you come back to shore so you dont end up swimming back into it…unless you cant swim then you're fucked to begin with

30. I know two extremely experienced swimmers who almost drowned in rip currents – do not go into beaches when rip current warnings are up.
