  1. Being stationed out in Hawaii we survived months in the wilderness. Theirs so much water, so much natural food to actually live off of anyone could do it. Don’t sound to me like she wasn’t even prepared mentally or physically. Rule number 1, never panic. She sounds like she did that the first day.

  2. Where was her GPS unit?

By the time an inexperience hiker like myself started hiking in national forest, I already carried both a phone and a GPS unit. You can literally not get lost, as even basic hiking GPS units will tell you the path you took.

  3. The Best Things to Do at the Makawao Forest Reserve

At 2,500 feet above sea level,
the beauty of Makawao Forest Reserve is truly unparalleled. This unique
forest is located in the upcountry of Maui, Hawaii, and features
flowering ginger plants, fragrant eucalyptus trees, AND SPECTACULAR VIEWS OF THE ISLAND AND OCEAN BELOW.

  4. ~ A Netflix Original~

A young woman (Played by Kristen Stewart) wonders into the woods chasing a butterfly, Sun light reflecting from a drop of water on a hibiscus catches her eye, distracting her. She slips on a moss-covered rock and falls into a ravine “animal sounds”.

“Long awkward pause” She awakens disoriented, “long boring awkward pause”, a twig breaks, she pears into the distance, no one is there….

Wind gusts blow leaves and sand about the forest floor “ominous sounds”

For the next 16 days she wonders aimlessly in circles, repeating "hello is anyone there", (no one answers) “long boring awkward pauses”.

Then on the 17th day, dehydrated and hallucinating, her mind drifts back to 7th grade PE, “follow the river IDOT” she hears her PE teacher shouting, “long awkward pause”. She follows the river.

Moments after reaching a clearing in the forest's canopy, she slips on a moss-covered rock, “long awkward pause”, “animal sounds”. She falls to the bottom of a waterfall, “long boring awkward pause” “loud thumping sound” She is spotted by rescuers in a helicopter.

The camera pans to a setting sun on the tiny Hawaiian Island of Maui, screen fades to black.

  5. She was lost for 17 days on an island slightly smaller than the area of Jacksonville FL. You can walk from Florida's West cost to the East cost in 7 days, walking only 8 hrs per day. Not really sure how she was lost for 17 days.

  6. what an inspiration, for other morons who don't know the world can be a dangerous place. Good thing she "followed her heart" hahaha what an idiot she's lucky to be alive, but who takes selfies and then gets rescued?

  7. Why can’t anybody just stay at home ?!?!?! It’s costing us taxpayers to baby sit and rescue these white people !!!!! If you like nature YouTube it !!!! Don’t go on top of Mount Everest or middle of the forest
