Despite preliminary discussions to the contrary, U.S. Navy leaders decided not to cover up the name of the USS John S. McCain, as requested by the White House, prior to President Donald Trump’s visit to Japan, U.S. officials told ABC News.
In a tweet on Wednesday night, Trump denied having any information about the request after a report by The Wall Street Journal, later confirmed by The Associated Press, that a White House email to military officials had requested that it “move out of sight” during the president’s visit to the U.S. Naval base in Yokosuka, Japan, on Monday.

Ok guys former sailor here. USS mccain is in the SHIPYARDS which means it is temporarily down for matienance. Did trump say that? Most likely. But the ship wouldnt have been anywhere near the other ships in the first place. It has to go out and do sea trials and have a congressional approval before it re enters the fleet. So im not sure who is lying here. But i dont think it was the Navy. He probably did get someone to order that.

I am then curious has USS McCain got "her" name from Senator John McCain, who was a Vietnam War veteran as an air pilot and a long term Republican Party politician in the USA, or from his father the US Navy Admiral John S. McCain Jr., who was once the Commander, US Pacific Command etc. or his grandfather the US Navy Admiral John S. McCain Sr., who had a significant US Navy battle operation Commander role during the WWII at the Pacific Ocean War?
