  1. What's hard to fathom is how Smith is so authoritative, when he knows full well that he is under investigation by the FBI for tax crimes, which he would plead guilty to later in 2020. By cheating on his taxes, Smith is able to masquerade as some magnanimous saint, helping these poor students. We, the tax HONEST tax payers paid for this big give away. Robert Smith is a con artist, who dumped his African American wife of 25 years for a playmate of the year. How can we consider anyone to be a hero and role model who says "screw you" to his family to get laid with a playboy bunny?

  2. It isn't so much the students that should be elated, it should be Morehouse College for charging everybody the $40 million and making out all the way to the bank.  How 'bout the guy with the $200,000 debt at Morehouse for a  bachelor's degree in SOCIOLOGY?   Talk about missing the mark as far as making a wise-investment.  Schools need to offer classes in personal finance management, but I guess the idea is to keep 'em dumb and just let them forget about that student debt bill that you'll be paying off until you die.  With $200,000 in the bank, you could start your own company, but what's happened here simply perpetuates the system of the schools and banks getting rich off of students' gullibility and poverty. More entertaining watching the "Deal or No Deal" program — always tickles me when their greed causes them to go home empty-handed.  Just like the students here …. the players always talk about all their great plans for what they're going to do with all the money.  Charging somebody $200,000 for a 4 years of sociology classes … gimme a break.

  3. Like hell he can pay mine off for me too as they are a pain in the arse and I didn't even get a job making what I should be or even in my field of study. Going to college was one of the WORST things I have EVER done. I would rather give my bachelor's degree back to my college and have them take the debt/loans off vs keeping the damn thing.

  4. Hold on one minute! That's all the coverage this remarkable event gets. This nation is drowning in student loan debt. This is beyond words outstanding act of kindness and deserves a primetime interview!

  7. I applaud the effort. I hope the best of these students use this unique gift to further their education and then pass on their knowledge and work ethic to generations yet to come. Just as the greatest generation took the pain of childhoods during the great depression and the scars of horrific war and turned their experiences into a better world than they knew.
