  1. The Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast system was pioneered in Alaska for the very reason of avoiding collisions. This is a next gen position reporting system which allows all airplanes to see all other airplanes in their proximity. This system does not require contact with Air Traffic Control. It was so successful that every airplane flying in the US is required to have an ADS-B system by 2020. So why didn't these airplanes have this system? If they did have this system, why didn't they pay attention to other traffic? Of course non of this was in the news report, why not? (When you have acquiesced to expect less, that is exactly what you get.)
