Rebecca Schaeffer’s father Benson Schaeffer and former “My Sister Sam” co-star Pam Dawber say access to guns in the U.S. is a “public health hazard.” Schaeffer was shot to death by a stalker in 1989.

  2. I’m rabeccas cousin once removed, I never met her as I’m too young, but I do know how much this has affected my family members, and I still wish I could’ve gotten to meet such a sweet person. RIP Rebecca 🕊

  6. From what I understand, the guy showed up at her place twice, the second time killing her. If she had a gun, at least that would have given her a chance at defending herself. Not that I want people to get in shootouts more often, but gun laws simply won't keep them out of the hands of criminals.

  13. Sorry, gun control laws will not keep bad guys from obtaining firearms. It only weakens the law abiding. Stop it with this vile propaganda ABC. A gun also protects those who obey the law from those who don't. It is tragic that she was killed and that is all you liberal media report. How about reporting all of the live saved by law abiding gun owners? Nope, you won't report that. You report lies. "Shall not be infringed" means just that. We have history of nations who have turned in their arms and all the lives lost from chaos and tyranny that ensues.

  17. If “My Sister Sam” ever going to be available on DVD, Blu-ray and digital media formats from Warner Home Video, we love to see extras with CBS promos, interviews, audio commentaries and a PSA with the surviving cast in honor of their late co-star, Rebecca Schaeffer.

  19. We all miss Rebecca, her family and Pam handled it soo well with her death. Humans can be so cruel, why is it so easy to get a hold of a gun? We have people who can professionally handle guns to hunt food and fend off wrong doings, so why does the public get permission? I want somthing to be done about this and I want it done soon, not in another fifty years when thousands more people have been fatally shot.

  30. Protection from mental illness is the issue, the gun doesn't have a brain. The perpetrator would have used other weapons to satisfy his sickness. Perhaps a hammer, scissors, toaster who knows. I remember this tragedy from decades ago and nothing has changed, mental illness has been the enemy since the beginning of time.

  33. I own many guns. To obtain them I have had to go through background checks. This A-HOLE obtained a gun illegally! NO LAW I repeat ZERO LAWS would have stopped her murder! Her murderers teachers begged to get him mental help and THE MURDERERS parents always pulled him out of counseling. This is an accountability thing NOT a gun control thing. Using the "logic" used here qe would need a pillow ban, hammer ban, knive ban, and so on.

  35. As much as i believe in the 2nd amendment I also believe that if you put a ban on guns, if someone wants it bad enough they will find a way to get one. Could her death been prevented, absolutely. Was it tragic, most definitely especially with her being only 21. I don't think you can get more strict on gun laws but I do think that those who are not following them seller wise need to be held accountable.

  37. I hadn't forgotten about this; I've just rewatched Stalking Laura and shocked to know that in 1990 – California had introduced the Anti-Stalking Laws. Too bad this wasn't introduced earlier. Could it have saved her? In Australia, after the Port Arthur massacre (35 lost their lives) in Tasmania; gun control became a lot tighter, however just searching now, it seems we have over 3 million guns here (pop about 22mil). I think it is only a matter of time before we see more gun deaths in Australia. They used to say we were always 10 years behind the US and we're already past that timeframe……
