Hiking couple rescued by helicopter after being stuck 5 days on Mount Baldy

The hikers, who were stuck between two waterfalls when rescuers spotted them, said they rationed their food and used a straw that filters parasites from water in the wilderness.

  1. Glad they had a happy ending BUT they didn't have to get lost in the first place they made very stupid choices to land them where they where. Some of you may think I'm being harsh but they pushed on even after friends went back, they went off trail after sliding when all they had to do was go back up hit trail and go to trail head. They pushed down to a valley filled with large boulders and then lit a fire to warm themselves but not a big enough one or in a set of 3 for overhead searchers. Lots and lots and lots of stupid decisions where made by these two supposivly experienced hikers . I think a macho mindset was at play here a national gaurd veteran that read a few survival books so he thought himself prepared like many (experienced) hikers . California should make it a law to hike certain trails you must pass an orienteering class as well as a survival and basic medical certification class weed out those that are a accident waiting to happen.

  2. They prepared themselves pretty well, which saved their lives….however next hike they should get a gps tracker/locator, so they can send a beacon if lost. It’s good news that we did not hear of a tragic ending, so glad they are safe.

  3. I DO NOT FOR 2 SECONDS BELIEVE THEM, I USED TO HIKE THOSE MOUNTAINS WHEN I WAS 16 YOU CAN SEE ROADS, CABINS, TRAILS, FROM ALMOST ANY VANTAGE POINT, WHEN A KID GOES MISSING I BELIEVE IT BUT THESE 2 BROUGHT ALONG LOTS OF CAMPING SUPPLIES PLUS THEY WERE EXPERIENCED HIKERS THEY JUST HAD AN IDEA TO BE FAMOUS. LMAO THEY WERE "RESCUED" 2 MILES FROM HWY 15 WHICH YOU CAN SEE FROM ANYWHERE IN THE MTNS. I REALLY REALLY HOPE SOMEONE DOES A STORY TO EXPOSE THEM.

  4. a former national guardsman got lost? i have a hard time understanding how people get lost to begin with. but for a service member to get lost in his own backyard….. glad they are safe. but 5 days aint shit. 7 is a normal back country hike off trail. and yea, should always have a life straw or some other form of water purification on you when you travel. no matter where you travel. people get to complacent in life because everything is handed to them. at least she was smart enough to bring one.

  5. What really bothers me about these two fucking idiots is why did they get off the marked Trail?1 if they went with a group and there were only out there for the afternoon or the day why the fuck did they go exploring without the proper equipment?

  6. These are not experienced hikers these are fucking idiots. An experienced hiker would have had a GPS watch, a topographical map, a two-way radio, and a goddamn copass! An experienced hiker will not get lost for five fucking days unless they are stricken with illness or a broken lamb. Something's not right about this, we don't know the whole story here.
