Think about it: Trump was so dangerous after losing the election that the military found it necessary to reassure the world that the United States would not be launching a nuclear attack against anybody as a pretext for the president to stay in power. That's how precarious the situation was then. And to this day, the GOP has not mustered up enough courage to knock Trump off his perch.

30. I am a 66 year old retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant (E8/1972-1993) and former Defense Contractor (2005-2010). For some time now I have been concerned that the U.S. Military no longer appears to be under the complete control of the elected President. General Milley's actions, if proven true, are great cause for concern here, although too many civilians don't seem to understand that and the danger it represents to America. When I enlisted I took the following oath: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." When military leaders start taking unilateral and independent actions against a seated elected President, they are violating the oath they took and usurping our democratic government and civilian control of the military. To put it bluntly, the Pentagon senior leadership is out of control and responds now only to an overly powerful military industrial complex that has corrupted both our political and military systems. Defense spending has become a major jobs program for congressional politicians and the pentagon is now a revolving door for Generals coming and going from large Defense contractors. Secretary Austin is another major example of this corruption. It is not that the generals are incompetent in waging wars, although it certainly may appear that way based on recent events. Civilians need to understand that the goal is no longer to win wars, but to prolong them as long as possible in order to guarantee profits for the Defense industry and large budgets and manpower ceilings for the Pentagon. Until the power of the military industrial complex is broken, we will see more such disasters in the future similar to Afghanistan in places like Iraq and other places where we currently have a military presence. As a former DOD Chief of Criminal Investigations, I can tell you beyond the shadow of any doubt, General Milley violated Articles of The Uniform Code of Military Justice and his own job description (which you can easily find on line). In my opinion, he should immediately be removed/suspended, a formal investigation should be mounted, and he should be summoned to provide sworn, public testimony. The mere fact that Biden has confidence in Milley is of little consequence. The question is do "we, the American people" have confidence in Gen. Milley.
