  4. The Afghans had 20 years and billions of dollars of investment. A completely subsidized military and a security infrastructure that was propped up by the US military for decades.

    How much more American blood must be spilt and how much more treasure must be spent until Americans realize that the Afghans have no true national identity – most don't see themselves as a nation, but rather a collection of simple communities/farmers and tribal units fighting over territory.

    The afghan national police and the afghan national army were a joke in 2010 and are a joke now. Many of them would change sides and fight with the Taliban during the summer fighting season and then switch in the winter.

    Ten or twenty MORE years and trillions more dollars won't change that. Get the U.S. troops out and leave the Afghans to manage their own country. They have had every opportunity to step up but their leaders and army instead choose the path of cowardice and corruption. I saw how the Afghan National Army works and it's pathetic. There are a few good people and their Special Ops guys are pretty solid, but they are far too few to hold the line. The average Afghan have known for years the Taliban would return to power.

    The collapse was inevitable.

    The situation for the people at the Airport and around the country is dire and saddening, but they knew or should have known (given their own history) that the US and NATO wouldn't be there forever, nor should they.

    Is this is the duty of powerful country? Hmm.. The Army of America flew away from afganistan at night with his half of people. And now they just gone from there with his embassy members. And they don't care about the citizens of afganistan. They didn't do anything ! Why this much powerful country can't see the humanity. Why the members of WHO can't see this? yeah I know because this organisation is a part of America. Right, America is just a hollow cylinder just coated with fake power, fake country that pretend he is very helpful and clever country, 🤬💢

  17. No major power throughout history, except Alexander maybe, could bring stability to Afghanistan. I just wonder with new technology maybe we don't need to control the country to destroy any potential terrorist base or threat. I'm just speculating here.
