This is kind of strange but great at the same time. Education and rehabilitation is the key to preventing recidivism! Also there has to be reform to the way prior mistakes(convictions) follow folks even after their sentence has been fulfilled. If a person pays their debt to society, they must be given a chance or they have no choice but to reoffend. If an employer can see prior convictions or even charges that were dropped, with on click of a button judgements are made and those applications go straight to the circular file. If a newly released man or woman “not inmate or convict btw” can’t even get an opportunity for legal employment, why is a recidivism rate through the roof a surprise. This seems so obvious to me. This a Great Story I wish this Man best on his Success
While this is a great story about the power of rehabilitation and redemption, I think it also highlights the importance of intervening in the lives of wayward, underprivileged youth and putting them on the right path by providing them the same opportunities that are available to those in wealthier communities. Among other things, that means better schools and facilities, trustworthy cops who are involved in the neighborhoods and familiar with their residents, it means preventing them from finding themselves in trouble with the law.
How can you represent a group of people you've never seen. I have never seen my free representative in my district.
This is what the powers that be are in fear of. I admit I don't know how to help fight for the political rights of the incarcerated but this lifetime ban I abhorrently disagree with.
This man is the exception. Clearly, you can see he made a mistake as a teen. But, for the other 99% of prisoners, NO.
