You never know what a person might be dealing with in their mind so nobody should judge her for doing what she needed to do… some of the people in these comments are setting themselves up for something themselves and don’t even know it by saying negative things… God will surely see her through this!!

  24. This is BS! I am NO LONGER a fan of Simone Biles. I didn't even want to watch the Olympics anymore after this happened. She took a spot that someone else could have gotten, and then backed out because of her "mental wellness",,,,really? What a total cop out!!

  27. Conspiracy Theory regarding Simone Biles
    1. Simone faked a bumped vault because she doesn't want to represent her country, she often said, failed her because of the Larry Nasser tragedy and that US authorities haven't done enough to protect female gymnasts. That's why she kept saying that the silver medal was the effort of her teammates, not her.
    2. She's not competing in the individual all-around as to give her teammates, the ones that stood by her side, the opportunity to shine in this special spotlight. She doesn't have to prove anything anymore on this level.
    3. She will compete in the individual events to have the opportunity to attach her name to two routines; one on vault and one on the balance beam. She will not compete on the floor routine to give her BF Jordan Chiles the opportunity to medal on an individual event, which is Floor.
    Let's see how this will work out.

  34. The sad part is, this young woman has already brought home multiple Olympic Gold Medals on the behalf of The United States of America, and that fact has been void in our conversations. She has already performed tasks in her sport only she has accomplished. How much is enough! She has earned the RIGHT to space.   41. Muh mental health. You dumped on your team and country because you read a few tweets one night for your social media dopamine fix and suddenly, oh the pressure! Instead of doing your best and risking loss, you abandoned your team and caused yourself to lose. 18 year old boys go to war and you can’t do a flip

  44. I’m not saying that she should be praised for this, but honestly we might not know the true reason behind this decision so I don’t think it’s fair to make assumptions either way. After all this time I’ve watched her she has been extremely supportive of her team and very mentally tough so quitting out of lack of one of those characteristics seems extremely out of character for her. I suspect there’s something else going on, but who knows at this point.

    I do know that she is the only one of this team that was competing when the sexual abuse and scandals with Nassar were going on during her last Olympic. She also might have genuinely thought this was the best move to help her team achieve as much success as possible when she realized she wasn’t performing well. Gymnastics is also a much more dangerous sport than many people realize. Mental blocks like this can cause gymnasts permanent injuries or even death. Who knows

  45. That's her generation. If you don't feel like turning up to work one day, just quit and claim it on "mental health". It seems you get more recognition for throwing the towel in than you do competing these days.
