Biles is the world champion of one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports in the world. Her withdrawal at the Olympics shows that well-being is more important than competing at any cost.

  1. Simone Biles has nothing more to prove .She has done it all. Fans, Sponsors and others seem to forget that high performance Athletes are human like anyone else and can have days when they are not at their best. This was apparent when Simone was missing all her landings which, when she is on track, can probably do with her eyes closed. Her problem is no different from that of Naomi Osaka i.e. unreasonable expectations, and stress , which Naomi referred to as Mental Health, for want of a better term.- requiring the help of a sports psychologist and the need for a break – not to be confused with Crazy Yet Naomi has not been given the credit for first bringing this to the attention of and its acceptability by the Sports World.

  2. C'mon now. Simone was more than happy to get a GOAT on her uniforms/leotards. She was more than happy to accept all these endorsements that paid her millions of dollars for being the face of gymnastics and the Olympics. Now she folds under the pressure that she created herself and quits the Olympics because her first event was terrible.

She could have said no to all those endorsements. Getting a GOAT is an extremely narcissistic thing to do. All the excuses people are making for her is pathetic. They are even bringing race into this of course. What in the world does the color of her skin have to do with her quitting.

  3. Thank you guys for helping the new generation today " most important for Simon for open the door for the new Olympics now and forever " I love you Simon. From Ohio 🥰🥰

  4. Simone is very good and thanks to her, another star emerge; sunisa lee. I hope both olympian do well in the beam and bring medal home. GO TEAM USA!

  5. Millennial and generation Z are the most good for nothing and have a excuse for everything.
Of course there are more important things than winning gold medals as; smoke crack-cocaine, having five kids not knowing who the father is and living under the government welfare forever.

  6. As a taxpayer supporting these athletes I think it's ridiculous to start calling them courageous. Put your big girl leotards on and win the gold. Welcome to the snowflake generation Olympians. Charlie Brown said it best. GOOD GRIEF!!!

  7. Tokyo limits the amount of dextroAMPHETIMINE that Simone was allowed to take and now she can't focus on what she is doing. Imagine that

  8. I am so happy for these young women who were able to step up and win at the Olympics Simone biles was never the team she was part of a team but everybody thought she was going to bring it home now we see the talent of all these team players and I don’t know Simone Biles personally but it sounds like she supported them every single step of the way. The messages that America is sending to Simone biles when they say she is a quitter loser not the goat may resonate with these other women people are watching and listening to how individuals respond and I hope that there is not one young woman who will put her self in jeopardy simply to avoid this backlash. The anger I have that still lives on is that more individuals are in sensed that she backed out then that her medical caregiver sexually assaulted her for years as a minor not to mention hundreds of other girls and women God bless Simone biles I am so proud of you for representing survivors athletes women thank you❣️😁🌻🌻💚

  9. If what Biles did changes the Olympics culture, then I probably won't watch it anymore. I watch for the dedication, grit, determination, hard work, skill, and perseverance- not the medals earned.

  10. Why are all black people so attention-seeker individuals? Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, now…Simone Biles. I'm over this generation.

  11. This is crazy how they’re praising her for quitting on her team, training and competing you take a chance of injuries, I’m glad I’m not on the battlefield with a lot of you guys cuz most of y’all would quit in the middle of a battle and say you suffered mental issues and couldn’t protect your brothers

  12. I quit my job today…..walked off mid shift, because the pressure was just too much. But that's okay, tomorrow everyone will be calling me a hero. I may even get my picture on a cereal box.

  13. ABC did a superb job of covering this story; highlighting mental health, the twisties, danger level of the sport, safety concerns of athletes, culture change in sports, acknowledgement of athletes as human beings, and different perspective on winning. Simone’s quote about how she’s responded to receiving love and support almost brought me to tears. Yes Simone, you are so much more than you’re accomplishments and you are loved. Your safety and health should always come first. Thank you for all you’ve done for the sport.

  14. Leave Simone alone i hate how u guys judge my people so harshly we can never get a break if we're hurt are have mental health issues if she was another race you guys would be on her side

  15. Imagine you quitting because you just don't feel like it and changing your excuses every day 😂.. I hear that they don't let her use her ADHD meds but I also heard that they did let her 🤦‍♂️ either way she had 5 years to change her meds to be able to take them during the Olympics. For me she gets no sympathy, she had ample time and her and her team screwed up. She should have just stayed home and let someone else go since her team didn't even need her to win silver 🤷‍♂️.. she is the Roberto Duran of gymnastics #nomas..

  16. Such a weak person. How can an elite athlete not play because she feels nervous? She should no longer be considered the best of all time until she wins another Olympic gold medal.

  17. This is what Simone Biles did to earn this exuberant applause. She gave up. After struggling in the qualifying rounds, and botching her first event in the women’s team finals, Biles decided to withdraw from the meet. She quit rather than lose.

  18. 20 years ago Kerri Strug "sucked it up" and helped her team win a medal while injured. The olympic is no place for wimps cuz you will be challenged

  19. You have opened a closed door Simone. As much as we all were looking forward to your performances & Gold Medals, not if participating could have injured you permanently. You can look back on your career & say all that I accomplished-Job well done! Let this be a lesson to the Media-Back Off in the future. You are totally responsible for the major role you played in Simone’s decision. None of the Media rarely talked about any of the other Athletes. Y’all spooked her!

  20. People don’t expect team USA to win. That is complete bs. People know it doesn’t always happen. Maybe she is talking about her circle but no one expects this. We have all watch decades of Olympic Games where we know sometimes the expected Gold Medalist doesn’t win gold. And no one expects these athletes to be forced to perform or be abused or to not be human. But there is a certain decorum that just doesn’t exist in this generation and has disappeared. Glorifying the way in which she chose to step down. No one expects a gymnast to risk a broken neck but we do expect that they are at an elite awareness of the sport and their bodies to pull out in ample time because your health isn’t worth a medal and win or lose we do expect you to do the ethical thing. Some people are saying she couldn’t by the time she found out and that there was no alternative well then the 3 others go on and compete and if we can’t we lose. That’s what competition is about. You can’t always win. There wasn’t a lot of integrity in the way she and her coaches handled this decision. Even is she pulled out early and the team lost or couldn’t compete it still would have shed light in the issue
