Does anybody remember when Mr.Krabs turned the Krusty Krab into a high rise hotel and added the pool on the top floor ? Disaster at the end .
Instead of taking the time to film a Snapchat video and try to yell at 1 a.m. with no one on their balconies, they should have ran to the front of the lobby to alert the security guard AND to pull the fire alarm. Imagine how many people could have been saved instead of just standing there, filming.
For this to happen there had to be people paid to look the other way or put off/stall needed repairs.
The deck foundation was damaged by dump trucks hauling beach sand and
work on the sidewalk causing the bearing of the deck to collapse. This
damaged a few beams with along with a windy night cause to building to
isolate and fall.

Living in a condo building should be like being on a ship as life as you know it could change at any time. If you start at the moment the parking / pool deck dropped a general alarm should have been activated to "muster" or leave your apartment, proceed to the stairwell, which one remained standing. Lesson to be learned that 7 minutes can save your life if you are aware to react. If anything similar should happen to any building anywhere it's better to be out of danger on the street rather than remaining inside wondering what just happened only to be among the victims. Rest in Peace to those who perished and prayers to the survivors and responders.

I wonder why they decided to replace the roof before doing the repairs to the concrete support beams and the pool deck? I recall the very next morning after the collapse, a woman with a thick Italian accent called the local news and said that she saw roofers stacking all of the roofing materials on the ocean side of champlain. So now you have a foundation and support beams that are weak and crumbling. They had not removed the old roof yet, obviously, so those old crumbling supports basically had to hold the weight of 2 roofs that day. It was too much. I haven't heard this story repeated again on any news outlet (about the roofing materials all being put up there the morning of the collapse). I hope they are also looking into this.
