  1. whoa, back it up. TXknew about 6/19 because they oppressed, suppressed slaves for an additional 2 yrs and only let them free by federal action. Meanwhile in the Midwest we celebrated Emancipation. Even in the 60's we celebrated Emancipation. In the 80's my neighbor Marie ,in Milw, told me about 6/19 and how the freed slaves of TX had no idea what was happening, how they were illiterate in spite of electricity and phones in Galveston, they were not aware. When I talked with other black neighbors and coworkers, they were completely unaware of this chapter. Don't make it sound like all blacks knew about 6/19, even 10 yrs ago talking with a friend she had no idea. It is the shame of TX… one of thousands.

  2. If barack thought juneteenth was so important, why didn't he get juneteenth to be a holiday. Obama has done nothing for black people and I'm a black man saying this. So tired of seeing him. Having brown skin doesn't make me automatically give a damn about you or make you great fyi!

  3. Instead of oil pipelines can we divert water to drought affected areas and hopefully save our farmlands? They provide our food so I hope there will be alternatives to supply water .(hydroponics another solution?)

  4. Right now everyone in Louisiana along the coast needs to be paying attention, Gov. John Bel Edwards said Thursday, because we have rivers that are already high and drainage ditches that are already full. Smaller rain than we may have experienced last month could be just as catastrophic😕
