  1. As a Jew, I feel the need to explain my people's story. After the Roman Empire destroyed the second Jewish commonwealth around 70.C.E. and forced my people into exile, for close to two thousand years we were subject to intense persecution (in Spain, Poland, Arabia etc.) which culminated with the European Holocaust. As a result, we developed a deep trauma and came to believe that all people from other nations were out to get us. Not that I'm saying this is an excuse for the way we treat the Palestinians; it isn't. But it does explain why we treat them so badly; you have to understand that we Jews were robbed of power for two millennia and subject to more and more vicious persecution that any other people. Now that we have power again we are not used to it, and largely speaking we are still convinced that the world is out to get us, so when we see another people demanding the right to return we react way more strongly than necessary. Believe me that many Jews when they hear the word "Palestinian" they understand it as "militant Islamic terrorist who wants to drive us into the sea" and we come down on them with the harshness of a native people with superior weaponry who feel threatened by foreign invaders. We truly see ourselves as an indigenous people who were displaced from our land, managed to return against all odds and no the Palestinians are trying to displace us again. However, you, the Palestinians see us as a colonial power who illegally seized their land and are now settling it while forcing them to live under an unjust military occupation. There's elements of truth to both narratives; I believe the first step to a lasting peace between our peoples is to recognize we are living in a larger narrative, one where we Jews were unjustly displaced from our native land, retained our identity in exile and eventually managed to liberate ourselves by successfully fighting a guerrilla war against the British Empire to free Palestine from them, but through liberating ourselves we colonised the Palestinian population, and now I believe part of the Jewish responsibility is to become comfortable with our own power again and realise your people can indeed live with us as equal citizens in a Jewish state. I don't feel threatened by the Palestinian narrative but we need to recognise the validity in each other's stories. If we can't, we'll keep on fighting each other and the US will keep getting rich from their arms sails to Israel. Down with US imperialism!

  2. Israel carries out various acts that are prohibited by the UN Apartheid Convention including:

    – Forcible transfer of Palestinians to make way for illegal Israeli settlements.

    – Preventing Palestinians from returning to their homes and lands (including millions of refugees living in exile).

    – Systematic and severe deprivation of fundamental human rights of Palestinians based on their identity.

    – Denying Palestinians their right to freedom of movement and residence (especially, but not limited to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip).

    – Murder, torture, unlawful imprisonment and other severe deprivation of physical liberty.

    – Persecution of Palestinians because of their opposition to apartheid.

  3. How is Israel an apartheid state if all its citizens have equal rights? blacks, whites, Jews, Muslims, christians. This woman is a law maker in the Israeli Knesset , so if Israel was an apartheid state she wasn't be able to gain this position right?! Show me a single Arabic country that gives it's citizens the rights and freedoms Arab Israelis get from Israel. Can I ask a Jew or Israeli be a a law maker or member of Parliament in one if those countries? Can I criticize the governments of those countries if I'm over there without fearing for my personal saftey? This womans claims are perfect example of hypocrisy and stupidity.

  4. If the West Bank is under apartheid, doesn't that acknowledge it being part of Israel rather than being an occupied territory? Aren't the A B C zones by their very nature, under different regimes and restrictions? I'm trying hard to understand, not defending any side.

  5. There is apartheid in Israel which this Arab racist and ABC propaganda outlet failed to mention. It is perpetrated by the Muslim Arabs on the Temple Mount, at the site of Al-Aqsa mosque. The site has separate entrances for Muslims and non-Muslims (10 for Muslims and 1 for non-Muslims and only on the special days and special hours). Inside there are places non-Muslims are not allowed to enter at all with the sings "only for Muslims". Police checks if you are Muslim or not and expels visitors who are not Muslims. All "human rights organizations" (and I am sure ABC) know about this showcase of open racism and apartheid but keep mute (imagine the sign at the entrance to the church compound saying "only for whites". Would they also be mute?). Why ABC doesn't report on the real cases of apartheid?

  6. There is no reason why a Israel Bi-national state won't become another Lebanon.

Arabic culture doesn't have the elements to form a democratic state with equal rights for everyone Arab countries are either authoritarian or corrupt like Lebanon.

  7. Currently, the South Korean military does not provide food or restrooms to soldiers. Please point out this issue at the center of the USFK. It cannot be changed by the power of the Republic of Korea.

  8. Hamas wants the current Palestinian govt. out. This has very little to do with Israel, but Israel got dragged into some kind of Palestinian feud. The media also is being used by Hamas to push their version. In the end, sadly, civilians pay the price.
