Bear in mind that Islam is also on far right (in terms of the beliefs and traditions), though in MI many receive welfare and food stamps (having arrived as unskilled refugees from Iraq).
The left hypocritically supports them despite their unabashed views on the roles of women, separation of Church and State and the belief (like many Christians) that if you don't embrace their way of thinking, you're in spiritual jeopardy – condemned by god.
Extremism persists in Christianity no doubt, but Islam itself elucidates the role the Islam should play as a force in the world. THey play a long game through migration, to spread Islam and also take advantage of economic opportunity.
