More than 1,000 people streamed into the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery on Monday to pay their final respects to Joseph Walker, although it’s unlikely any of them knew him.

  1. I was so MOVED by this story last night…..It honestly brought me to tears. If we lived closer, we would have been there as well. These people make me proud to be an American!!

  2. If only 1% of the people that showed up for him now he's dead had visited him when he was alive! I'm the child of a US veteran and was his full time caregiver for 11 years. Do you think ANYONE visited (that wasn't looking to see what money they could get out of him) during that time? Nope. Any help from anyone either for him or me? Nope. I am far from being the only one in this situation. Frankly this show of sympathy just makes me ill. Would any one of these people showed up to help clean his house? Mow the lawn so he could sit out? Nope. I'm glad at least this vet got his due. My dad died in abject poverty. Was cremated cause he had nothing. No acknowledgement by anyone. I was the only one who stood by him and cared, and it cost me my business and career.

  3. That is the most beautiful thing that's really touching that all those beautiful white people and others came to bury this black veteran . You guys made me cry
