Referee’s questionable call for wrestler to cut dreadlocks

Many are outraged that a high school wrestler was given an ultimatum to cut his hair or forfeit his match.

  1. This what y’all white ancestors use to do to ours and then would put our hairs in your chairs. This is America. This was racially motivated.

  2. There are rules! If I had long hair I would have to wear a hair cap. It’s similar to the rules saying that you have to shave your chin and jaw. Either way, dude is a beast for doing this to wrestle

  3. Idiot nake it a race issue again maybe the ref was just a jerk and would have made a white person or Indian or Spanish guy if he had long hair too don't run ur mouth unless u know if it's a race issue maybe the guy is just a jerk

  4. It sucks but when I was wrestling I tried to keep my hair as long as possible. Several times I have to have it cut by a coach or teammate with tape scissors. Everyone stood around and laughed. They really did a hatchet job. My hair was legal according to our coaches. The officials said it was 1/4" too long but they cut a lot more than that and left chunks. My hair was important because I wanted it as long as possible. I was in a rock band in the late 80's. I grew it out except for wrestling I had to have it short. My hair was a big part of who I was but I knew if I was going to wrestle and keep my hair as long as possible that was a risk I was going to take. I still hate that it happened but I'm not scarred for life. There were other things that hit life harder than having my hair cut in front of everyone. I was in a 95% white town and I'm not. I don't believe this had anything to do with race. Just sharing my experience. If they said racial slurs that is something different.

  5. There was no force!!! It was a choice!!! Big difference. Play the game with integrity and follow the rules it’s not that difficult. Can’t follow rules then don’t play very simple!!!

  6. This comes down to either his hair was in compliance with the rules or it wasn't. The poor judgement came in when grown ass adults decided it was appropriate to cut his hair on the mat in front of everyone in attendance. If it was required for him to compete why not go into a private area and take care of it to avoid some embarrassment this guy might have experienced?

  7. Slavery is still alive and well in the United States. People think everyone is so free there but they are not. This is a country that doesn't take care of the people who made it wealthy.
