In many pictures the mom looks quite nice for someone who’s traversed hundreds of miles thru deserts. She appears to be doing quite well now!
Tears and talks of lord and yet exposed child to all kinds of terrain, animals, temperature extremes, weathers, toxins, bacteria. The finally is crossing the Rio Grande which has sewage, trash, toxic waste. It is no journey for the strong, much less the young.
She is responsible for her daughters death. Illegals are bringing all sorts of sickness into the US that threaten the health of every US citizen. Did I hear this right? It seems to have escaped everyones notice that this woman and her child were apprehended in a raft on the Rio Grande, one of the most polluted rivers in the world with up to 24 million gallons of raw sewage dumped in it every day by mexico. The child became sick a few days later from exotic bacterial infections the other children in detention did not have. So the mother endangered her child, broke our laws and now wants a payout.
This is really sad and I feel sympathy towards the mother to a certain extend. However, I don’t believe the child was perfectly fine after traveling thousands of miles then all of a sudden has medical issues and die within just a week coming into US. It’s not our fault that the mother put her child in this position and except us to save her life. Now that she’s trying to sue is just straight up ridiculous.
Anybody that thinks about making degrading remarks about the dead toddler, I will report your remarks and have you banned for life. Barbaric hypocrites!

I am divided on this one.
On 1 hand, it is most unfortunate what happened to that poor child. No mother should have to bury a child so young.
That being said, I believe the mother does bare responsibility for having put her child in that situation to begin with. I understand her desperation. I get it, but you mean to tell me taking your baby on this horrendous journey was her only option? I don't know the country of Guatemala. If the mother says she was desperate, I take her by her word, but in her desperation she made a decision for herself and her child. She sealed both their fates when she began her illegal journey to the U.S..
I am truly sorry for her loss, but I am sickened to think that you are in this country illegally to begin with and now you're going to file a lawsuit against the very place you smuggled yourself to?

If Guatemala is as bad as the mother says, sounds to me like the child would have died there too. It is unfortunate as I said at the beginning what happened to the poor girl. But I find it even more appalling that this illegal bitch is trying to now profit off her daughter's death. That's a damn disgrace. They should have deported her ass back to Guatemala after the death of her daughter. Instead, they leave her here to become an instant millionaire without lifting a fucking finger. Damn shame.

This mom admitted bringing her child illegally was worth the risk! Fleeing because of an abusive husband, everywhere in the world there’s abuse and almost all don’t flee their country knowing there will be a risk to your child’s life! Blaming ICE or medical staff is so much easier then blaming yourself! She made the decision to flee knowing the risks just as well as boarding the plane before making sure her child was well enough. When I was a young mom, my son was 4, who had a high fever so I took him to the emergency, the doctor gave him Tylenol and released him. I love my son enough so I stood my ground in the waiting room calling his pediatrician’s who met me in the waiting room and check him right then and there. They both ordered test and he was admitted and stood in the hospital for 8 days with a bad sinus infection in his 4 chambers. She loved her daughter but she took a huge risk, she made that initial decision that she has to live with and not put the blame on ICE or medical staff.
I live in a poor area in California. Our health care is not much better. No good doctors. US health care sucks.
