A giant. An extraordinary actor!
I never thought the Affleck's looked much alike, but there's a scene in this movie at a funeral and the camera moves to Casey's profile and THERE IT IS: resemblance. The entire cast was amazing, including newcomer Lucas Hedges, who provides some of the humor every serious tragedy must have — the higher the hilltops, the deeper the valleys.
Will the academy award Denzel Washington instead of Casey Affleck like they did it in 2002 when the favourite was Russell Crowe??? Denzel was amazing in Training Day but that was Russell's Oscar, he was magnificent in A Beautiful Mind

The movie was a straight line for me. Sameness. No arc. But something tells me I need to see it again, and that the brilliance is there but I'm too ignorant to see it. Casey probably deserved this.

Manchester by the sea is such a subtle but awesome movie! It brought me to tears and it didn't even try to, but just let the emotion flow with the plot! Casey's performance is absolutely superb
