Prosecutor On A Mission To Right Wrongful Convictions

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy started a Conviction Integrity Unit three years ago to examine claims of innocence and look for those who are wrongfully imprisoned. That means investigating the work of her own office. “It’s not about us. It’s about justice,” Worthy tells NBC News’ Kate Snow. The unit has helped 29 people so far, making it stand out among a growing number of CIUs across the country. Kevin Harrington is one of them. As a college student, Harrington was arrested on a murder charge and thought he’d be quickly released when authorities realized their mistake. It took almost 18 years. Harrington says he was apprehensive at first when the Wayne County CIU began looking into his case, as that prosecutor’s office put him in prison. Now he’s working to bring about change.

  1. Thank God this women has the integreity that she does. There are not enough like her. A word of advice to those reading this. If you are ever found innocent of anything in a court of law keep in mind that some prosecuters and police are very prideful and don't like losing. If the charge is serious and you are found innocent than it might be smart to move out of that jurisdiction. Otherwise they might consider it a matter of honor to nail you for something. Even if they have to frame you.

  2. Prosecutor helps 29 people who may have been wrongfully convicted. Watching as I have over the past 2 years the way American law enforcement behaves towards US citizens, I have come to the conclusion that there really isn't much difference between North Korea and the United States. Misconduct by law enforcement and prosecutors seems ubiquitous throughout the United States with vengeance taking front stage ahead of justice. So much for the land of the free and the home of the brave. America is one giant myth. The myth being freedom and justice for all.

  3. Hahaha 16 comments on a video that's been up for an hour from a national news agency "supposedly" holding themselves to a standard of moral integrity. What a joke. Enjoy playing sides and dividing your own people to the benefit of no one, with love from South Africa. PS: I know my politicians are corrupt as sh!t, the difference is our media has integrity, look up the definition sometime.
