Invariably, there will be candlelight vigils, people leaving messages and flowers, countless prayers to the dead and injured, and the country moves on…until the next one. When you have a problem, you refuse to fix it, or you are incapable of fixing it, then surely it is a very sick country?
But I believe it is the people, the society, the culture, and of course the politics that are sick. Who would buy a 15 year old kid a brand new gun for a birthday present? What kind of parents would believe that a shiny new gun complements a 15 year old? If that is not sick, I don't know what isn't.
Blame the sick parents, but they are but a subset of the American society, a very sick society where openly brandishing a high power gun is a show of toughness and manhood. Perhaps the parents in question thought a new gun will enhance their 15 year old boy's manhood? If so, isn't that what is so sick and abhorrent of American gun culture?
Yes, yes, politicians will once again send their thoughts and prayers to the affected, and they move on to tackle something easier to deal with, like abortion and vaccine mandates, the repeal of them.

I live 40 minutes away. All Michigan kids start shooting extensively at age four. Best to arm all the kids in school. If all the kids were armed, they would’ve neutralized the shooter themselves.
