4. In order to claim self-defense you have to be either standing your ground or protecting someone else and under immediate deadly threat… if someone threatens you yet ALLOWS you to escape you're not allowed to sneak around behind them and attack then claim "self-defense in court"

   You have to consider how your interpretation of the law will be applied to other situations

   If an old black farmer holding a shotgun threatens an evil racist skinhead who's tagging swastikas on his barn the skinhead isn't allowed to sneak around the back and attack the old black farmer claiming self-defense… once you've escaped the threat you're not allowed to get violent

   Since Arberry was already a career criminal at 25 he wasn't allowed to carry a gun but had he been a legal Firearms carrier and been threatened by the McMichaels I would completely support him pulling out his firearm and killing all of them had they brandished Firearms at him while he was trying to escape after he had simply trespassed in a home under construction

   The trouble is the chase and the shooting are two separate incidences…Arberry had been allowed to escape and then returned and ATTACKED

   The McMichaels were not actively chasing him when he attacked them and since they didn't harm him in their initial encounter he had no reason to believe they meant to harm him in their second or they would have simply shot him from distance

   The fact that the entire neighborhood was chasing this kid doesn't negate the McMichaels claim of self-defense because they clearly had no hostile intentions and we're simply forced to resort to violence when the fleeing Criminal escalated by trying to grab a gun from a man who is standing his ground on the phone with 911

   If the McMichaels wanted to hurt him they would have used a high-powered rifle and shot him distance

12. There’s a feeling you can’t know unless you’ve known what it’s like to experience hate and discrimination through the accident of birth. It’s difficult to sit with, sobering, depressing at times—that feeling when you find out about another person murdered or debased or watch another mother doubled over because her child has been killed and there is no apparent remorse, ultimately, because of what they looked like, what they were born as, or who someone assumed they were.

    There are no words that can change your mind unless you’ve actually undergone this experience to the point that it shapes much of your experience of reality. It’s the difference between perceiving someone as a we vs. a them—the difference between empathy and a wall.     Maybe you can’t read this message right now without being pulled back into the determination to prove something, without feeling like you have to fight. But I hope you maybe save this message and try to perceive others who do not look like you as, essentially, the same as you and then reread this years later. The late Wayne Dyer’s recording of the Tao Te Ching, which you can listen to like I do, often and before bed, on YouTube, is an excellent resource for beginning to open one’s heart and overcoming anger and other unhelpful emotions that blind us. I don’t write from a place of knowledge but of acceptance.

28. I've walked onto a construction site to look at how the home was made.
    There are normally some tools laying around. Didn't think about taking anything. Just curious.
    Turns out I was trespassing and got my ass chewed out. I didn't run when confronted.
    This could very well have been the same situation. I wasn't there so I don't know. Didn't look like he was sizing anything up really and there's nothing for him to take.
    I don't buy the jogging baloney. I believe he was scared and figured if he could just get away it would be over.
    As for the shooters, what a bunch of pussies. Shot and murdered an unarmed kid in broad daylight.
