The reef is doing great, the main reefs are found 50-100 miles offshore and are flushed daily from the ocean,
contaminants or pollution like fertilisers are not even worth measuring, Its a pristine environment,
Bleaching is a natural event, and hurricanes are very destructive and Crown of thorns starfish are all naturally occurring events now and in the past.
And looking at the historical weather history going back 200 years then drought followed by flooding followed by drought is just completely normal for Australia,

Though I appreciate these scientists working hard to repair the reef, they are only buying the ecosystem a short stint of time. The ocean will continue to absorb heat and bleaching events still continue until everything collapses.
