His decision to come out not only has a positive impact on his life but the lives of many LGBT youth as well. It is important that we have more queer representation like this in the media. Had I known that there were many other gay people like me in the world when I was younger, my childhood would have been much happier. I wouldn't have spent most of my youth hating myself and feeling suicidal over something that I couldn't change. I wouldn't have felt so alone, and it would have reassured me that a happy life was possible for me in the future.
