I live a blocks down hopefully my friend doesn't live in this one it think its the other one i won't tell my adress or this adress but this is so sad me and my nephews freind is a kid i won't share names but his building is near that one and those buildings are the connected ones hopefully he isn't in there if so R.I.P 😭😞👼
So scary. Buildings like that need to have full working sprinkler systems and fire escapes. Mandatory fire alarms that are hooked up to electrical and also have a battery and if taken out, notify landlord.. must have safety closing doors. It’s unbelievable that high rises like this don’t have basic fire safety.

The reporter says that an investigation needs to show whether the door was dysfunctional or never installed. Sadly there is a third possibility. If the function of the door was overridden by a resident, or if the functioning of the door was disabled, that needs to be investigated as well. I've lived in a building that had these types of doors, and some people who can't stand the way the door automatically closes and slams will actually disable that function, so that they can close the door when they want or leave it open at their own option.
