  1. This is abhorrent. But in hypercapitalist America, where we let you die if you can't afford health insurance (or go bankrupt), or saddle you with student debt for life EVEN IF you go bankrupt, this is to be expected. Some say this is the greatest country in the world. My reply always is, "For who?"

  2. In the mid90s I knew an older gentleman who shared office space with the company I worked for. He was a golfer and good friends with the Dean of UPenn. The Dean told him in passing that UPenn, at that time, actually had amassed so much money in ALUMNI ENDOWMENTS (which was invested) that UPenn never really had to charge a tuition fee to any student ever again. When asked yhen why they still charged tuition? He responded because of "PERCEIVED VALUE" of the UPenn school just like that of Yale, Harvard, etc.

  3. America: blames people for being poor

Also America: charges tens of thousands of dollars to not learn how to not be poor

How many vehicles should a education cost? How many houses? We need to forgive this debt on a mass scale now, or we don't have an economy.

  7. I thought these universities were safe spaces but this sounds exactly like the systematic racism that they talk so much about. Interesting
