To everyone crying about “erasing history” don’t worry. Your heroes (the men who committed treason, started a war, and killed thousands just to keep their slaves) aren’t being erased from history. You’ll still find them in all of the history books that you never bother reading. And no your High school US history textbooks written in the 50s-90s by supporters of the lost cause myth don’t count as history books.
May I ask what's the deal with these Confederate statues why BLM protesters are wanting them down? Are they Europeans too like Lepold 2? Sorry for asking I'm from the Philippines and I'm not really aware about Confederate states except they fought in American Civil war and yes we also have colonialist statues here but I think they won't be taken down especially the cross of Ferdinand Magellan which still stands today
Those who erase history are destined to repeat it.
I say, leave all the Confederate statutes be, but give the Union equal time. For example, Wherever there is a statue of Lee, erect a statue of Grant. Wherever there is a statue of Jackson, or Longstreet, or Hood, add one of Sherman or Sheridan. This makes it clear that we honor American history rather than any pro-slavery ideology.

Frankly I don’t agree with the removal of this monument or any monuments for that matter I mean granted history is not meant to be pretty but history is history at the end of the day and attempts to erase history for any reason especially if it’s just for your own personal satisfaction is wrong and this video right here is a perfect example of attempting to erase a piece of history and a very small piece of history at that. If you erase history how do you expect to learn from it in the hopes of making a better and brighter as the wise man once said those who fail to learn from history are doomed to relive it. One phrase that I was brought up with that’s fitting for the situation is you can’t change your past but you can change your future.
