45. From an evolutionary perspective, why would our immune systems start downgrading? Just because we go a year with less exposure to germs doesn't mean we wouldn't need our immune system soon. Sure it would cut back on bodily upkeep in the short term but how much? It's not like we've been filled with energy and feeling better because we aren't wasting resources on our immune system. How does that fit into survival of the fittest?
