  1. This is absolutely ridiculous, it is absolutely untrue, and this is just more of the media trying to keep race separated and hating each other. But I'm sure you blind brainwashed sheeple will feed right into it

  2. I'm dealing with this now me and my husband trying to purchase a home in areas in South Carolina we have Ben denied several times we paid every debt we had and still denied make good income but still denied they tried to put us in a area where there's allot of crimes and where the house look like it needs to be rebuild we went through 14 lenders 12 brokers for the past 6 almost 7 years now with a 630 and 640 and 559 credits owe no one not even late on bills and still denied a friend of ours witch he is white went for a loan has more debts then use bad credit and make less was approved we went to the same lender and was denied we basically Pay mortgage now but rent in a apartment 1,050 $ plus electric and water we only owe water witch is 100$ and they threatened us they would shut it off this is crazy racially profile not all african Americans are criminals or thugs we just want to better our self and our families

  3. I sold a house to a mix couple and it resold as the highest resale at the time. It appraised no problem too. I do believe this happens and this story broke my heart.

  4. My best friend is black he bought the house right next door to me and I was excited about the move he was too because we lived 30 miles apart but I got him a job working for the same company I work for and they asked us both about 3 months after he moved in next door would we consider moving to another state for a better job position we both agreed it was best for both our families. Now take in mind the neighborhood we lived in all the houses were the exact same house basically! So my home appraised for 108,000 his home appraised for 86,000 I’m not kidding it was ridiculous and also both were appraised by the same realtor!!!

  5. I’m literally looking to buy a home here next summer smh. I guess I gotta use my white friends’ privilege. This is pathetic. You can have the highest education and they still think they’re better. I don’t understand it.

  6. When your races reputation halves property values its time for an honest look in the mirror. Everyone else that drives your streets understands why this is and elects to live elsewhere no matter the cost.

  7. I am glad they caught this situation. This racism & red linen been going on forever. Segregation is definitely a issue especially in the court system , education , housing always been a big problem. You can tell where whites live & where blacks live in indpls By . The streets an areas . They have liquor stores & fast foods on every corner in black community , not in the white areas.

  8. This is shocking! This poor woman must have been devastated. Realising just how the colour of her skin could determine how the value of her property was appraised. It has to feel like society is telling you that it is you that is worth less, a lot less. Dreadful! Truly dreadful.

  9. And what a lot of folks don't understand stand is… if this happens to your black neighbor, than the value of your home goes down too! It behooves all of us to support legislation to ends this type of discriminatory practice.

  10. What comp’s did they pull? What is the time frame that they pulled the comp’s? This story is saddening but the reason this lady isn’t suing the pants off these prior to appraisals is because they couldn’t prove it was racism. Or else she’d be a million. So I’d have to see what comp’s were pulled by the appraiser

  11. SHE WASN'T DISCRIMINATED AGAINST…
Is what Republicans would say because, while being white, they don't believe in systemic racism.
Gov. Ron Desantis in Florida banned critical race theory in schools because he claims racism doesn't exist anymore.

  12. People want to hold back black people for no reason, in 2021 its no reason. People have hate for blacks and don’t know why. Ask yourself why? It will unfold a lot of nothing.

  13. How much later was the final appraisal done? I only ask because our homes have gained $100K in value over just the last few months. The housing market is inflating so fast right now.

  14. Unless she completely remodeled the house, the first 2 seem way more realistic. 125k is 7.7% anualized rate. 110k is 3.2%. Average appreciation rates in US for single family homes are a little under 4%….. her expectation of 185k (22.8% return per year) seems a little absurd unless she's done major repairs.. and the last one of 259 (37.3% per year)… idk…. this just all seems very strange

  15. One of my best friends is black. She was trying to buy a home in an expensive area. They made an offer and it was rejected. She told me they didn't want black people there. I was upset and ready to fight. Then I found out they offered $50,000 below the asking price. It wasn't about color.

  16. Guys just marry into the white Kingdom and you can use their whiteness to shield you. What else can we do? It works.

I used to get my white man to answer my phone when my boss would call. They respected me after that. When you go shopping with them, nobody follows you! Everybody looks at you like "oooh interracial" though. It's a lit better than "ooooh criminal" though. I prefer it. Oh and the cops ate by the book when you're with their brethren. But you you must make sure you get a hot one. Not too hot or else they'll get hostile, but hot enough for them to get the full privilege coverage plan. You can't go for the dusty ones. Then you lose all credibility. I'm lucky I've always had good ones.

  17. she thought her home which she bought 3 years earlier should appraise at $80 thousand more? What improvements did she do to that house?

  18. This is a problem that should, and can, be solved. If the automated appraisal system devalues a home simply because it's a black owner or because it's in a black neighborhood, the system needs to be changed.

  19. I had a realtor tell me to remove anything that showed that black people lived in the home including the hair in the sink and the bathroom drawers. I hear people say get over slavery and the things black people went through but how can u when this like this is still happening?!?!
